Suffolk Law School is established.

September 19, 1906

Originally Archer’s Evening Law School, it is founded by Gleason Archer and located initially in his home at 6 Alpine Street. Its purpose, according to Archer, is “[To] serve ambitious young men who are obliged to work for a living while studying law.” The school moves to Archer’s law office at 88 Tremont Street and is renamed Suffolk School of Law in 1907, opens a day program in 1911, moves to 45 Mount Vernon Street, is incorporated and authorized to grant degrees in 1914, and moves to a new building (first) on Derne Street in 1920.* It becomes part of the newly-created Suffolk University in 1937.*
